          TWO EXCITING FAMILY CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES

 

CHRISTMAS ACTIVITY DAY for PRIMARY SCHOOL & 2012 PREP CHILDREN
SATURDAY 17th DECEMBER 2011 9.00 AM – 1.00 PM

Activities include reflection on the Christian story of Christmas, make and take craft activities.

Cost-$8.00 PER CHILD-includes morning tea.
2012 Prep children must be accompanied by an adult.

PRESENTATION OF THE CHRISTMAS STORY
at Season’s Aged Care Facility on Friday 16th December 10am and at the Christmas Eve Family Mass

Each Sunday Special Ministers of Communion from our community go to Seasons Aged Care facility at Mango Hill and lead a communion service for Catholic residents there. At our recent Pastoral Team meeting it was suggested we organize the children to do a Christmas presentation for all the residents on Friday 16th December at 10.00 am.
As you are all aware, our senior citizens love the little ones and so we thought we would prepare to present the Christmas story with the children, if we can get enough families to participate.  We will do a repeat performance at our Christmas Eve Mass.

Costumes will be provided for the children. In preparation children will need to be available for two practices in the School Hall as follows.

TUESDAY 13th December @ 10.00 am
THURSDAY 15th December @ 10.00 am

If you would like your child/ children to participate and are able to organise for them to attend the practices, could you complete and return the tear off slip at the end of the Registration Form asap, by Thursday 1st December at the latest.

 

Children's Liturgy of the Word
To help our youngsters from age 4 to the time they celebrate the sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion, we will offer Children’s Liturgy of the Word on the last Sunday of each month.

The children will be invited to go to the Community Centre with the adult leaders and will listen to and reflect on the same Gospel as is read in the community, with age appropriate sharing and reflection. They will return to the adult community after the prayers of the Faithful. After Mass they will be invited to collect an activity sheet to do at home.

 

Family Groups
St Benedict’s Family Groups aim to help people get to know one another in the school and local community. They enable people to share the joys, challenges and sorrows that are part of life’s journey. They involve adults and children in sharing and building strong friendships in the community.

Sacramental Initiation for School Age Children
St Benedict's Community conducts an annual program for preparing school age children for initiation in the sacramental life of the Church. If you would like information about the process, please contact Sr Bernie.

 

St Benedict's Playgroups
Parents and toddlers form the School and local community now have a choice of two Play Groups in the Community Centre

Wednesday morning 9.00 – 10.30
OR
Friday morning 8.45 – 10.15

Because of space the playgroup is limited to 24 children and their parents on a first come first served basis each session.

Users will be asked to make a donation of $2 per family per session to help provide resources for the group. For more information collect a brochure from the school Office.
