One student representative from each class from Years 4 to 6 are nominated by their peers for the position of Student Council Representative. These students, along with our School Captains (who are also nominated/voted by their peers), meet on a weekly basis with members of our school leadership team and a teacher representative. The role of Student Council Representative is held for one semester of a school year. This position is one of leadership, community service and building school spirit.
Our Student Council members successfully organize many school events and fundraising initiatives to support Social Action and Justice in our wider community and as a way to express the Religious Life of our School. Events like organising care packs for "Rosies"; Ice Cream Day to support "Caritas"; Socktober to support "Catholic Mission", Bandana Day to support "Cancer Research" to name a few. These students are the voice of their peers who bring to our school's attention ideas and concerns from their perspective. These students share their initiatives through speaking at School Assemblies, suggestion boxes, communicating via designed newsletters or posters and visiting classes on a regular basis to provide information.
The School Captain/Student Council role is to encourage and celebrate the social, fun and friendly side which is very important in our school. At lunchtimes they co-ordinate and run activities like Talent Quests, Sporting Games, Dances to name a few. It is a pleasure to witness these students' ideas come to fruition as they develop whilst displaying confidence, creativity and compassion when caring for our school.
